Mower County Humane Society News | Pets
The Mower County Humane Society has some important news and events that they want you to know about.
Every spring, kitten and cat adoptions seem to fall with the warmer and nicer weather. Right now, the humane society is reporting they are housing roughly 20 kittens between the age of 1 week and months old. These kittens are not old enough for adoption (they start adopting at 3 months old), but this is a reminder why it is so important to have your cat spayed and neutered. Many of these kittens don't have their mother and cannot feed properly. Unfortunately we are told several kittens have passed away because of this issue. There are approximately 110 kittens (3 months old & older) & cats available for adoption at the moment. All cats sold have had their final vaccination and are neutered/spayed. The humane society recommends if you want a cat to adopt NOW and not wait until the fall!
There continues to be an excess of pitbulls at the Humane Society and all around Austin. To combat the ongoing excess pitbull population in Austin, the society is continuing their spay and neuter clinic all summer long. The cost is FREE! The Humane Society will only adopt Pitbulls to loving homes that will take care of the dogs in a loving fashion.
