Chimney Fire Damages Home
News

A chimney fire has forced a Lyle area family out of it's home.

The renter of the home on 130th street told investigators that she started a fire in the fireplace on Wednesday night, but the fire apparently spread because of build-up in the chimney.

The woman took her three children ... ages 3 months, 5 years and 7 years ... to a neighbor's house.

Firefighters from London and Lyle and Mower County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the call.

Fire officials said the home suffered "quite a bit of damage", and the family was put up temporarily by the American Red Cross.

They had reportedly moved into the rental property two days earlier.

No one was hurt.
